The Family's Chaos Mechanic - Part Nine

The weekends are over.

The decision isn't.

Midnight Morretti is back where she belongs: under the hood, elbows deep in somebody else's mechanical disaster, trying very hard not to think about Declan Brennan or Giovanna Castellano.

Then she comes home to find a fourteen-year-old apprentice sorting sockets in the parts room, her father's shop preparing for changes nobody would have imagined six months ago, and her carefully separated worlds beginning to overlap whether she's ready for them or not.

Unfortunately, avoiding the problem doesn't make it easier to diagnose.

Not when Amanda has opinions.

Not when Vittorio Castellano summons her for a walk through the farmers market.

And definitely not when Midnight starts realizing that choosing what comes next may require her to stop asking which life she belongs in and start asking what kind of life she actually wants.

A New Operating State is Part Nine of The Family's Chaos Mechanic.

No explicit content. All the feelings. One extremely observant teenager, one increasingly complicated family, and a mechanic discovering that some problems can't be solved by replacing the broken part.
