Dot volunteered to go last.

Then she disappeared. Five days. No address. No instructions. No text. Nothing from the woman who had spent two years acting like she could win this competition without trying.

At midnight, her window closed and five minutes later, she knocks on my door.

Dot Vance is standing in my hallway in jeans, sneakers, and a white T-shirt, looking nothing like the most glamorous woman in Vicious Habit and even less like someone who has a plan.

She asks me to pretend she's on time. She tells me something that changes almost everything I thought I knew about her.

Dot is beautiful, confident, and very, very good at making people believe exactly what she wants them to believe. I've watched her do it for two years. I've also watched her and Ro compete over songs, vocals, attention, and apparently anything else either of them can turn into a contest.

Tonight, there is no stage. No elaborate location. No performance.
